Founded in 1871, EM Normandie was among the first French Grandes Ecoles and has now become an institution of reference in the Business School world. The School holds both EQUIS and AACSB accreditation.

In 2020, its Grande Ecole Programme has been ranked 80th in the Financial Times List and 83rd in the QS Masters Ranking.  The School is operates 5 campuses, Caen & Le Havre in Normandy, Paris, Oxford (UK) and Dublin (Ireland) where its hosts some 5,000 students and professionals in its initial and continuing education degree programmes. Within the Métis Research Lab, lecturers-researchers lead academic work in Management Sciences but also in Economics or even Geography.  EM Normandie brings answers to the economic actors in its territory and puts its expertise at the service of professionals by developing applied research through the opening of sponsored chairs, research contracts or expert consulting assignments. Under the framework of its development, EM Normandie seeks a Professor of Finance (M/F). As a full-time professor, you will enjoy a reduced teaching workload (about 120 class hours per year) in order to allow you to focus on your mission as Head of the Law, Finance & Controlling Department. The Head of Department contributes to creating and sharing knowledge thanks to a highly qualified Faculty, engaged and aware of the changes in the world of today as well as the state-of-the art situation in their domain. The Head of Department will be asked to represent the department both internally and externally. He/she will lead the members of the department (Full-time EM Normandie Faculty members and one or several external contributors), in order to cover collectively the following fields of activities:

  • To guarantee the quality of courses in degree programmes which are relevant to their disciplinary field(s);
  • To contribute to the development of Continuing Education;
  • To take part in the internationalisation of the Faculty;
  • To contribute to the impact of the research activity on pedagogy, courses and managerial practices (Final year theses, dissemination of knowledge to other institutions, business organisations and professional or scientific organisations);
  • To manage his/her team (meetings, participation in recruitment and integration of new members, workloads).


This position requires a PhD in Management Sciences.

For this position, the applicant should possess the following qualities:

  • To have had a first successful experience in the operational management of a team of lecturers-researchers and pedagogy;
  • To be aware of Higher Education issues at national and international level;
  • To know about academic and professional networks in the department’s disciplinary fields;
  • To have team spirit;
  • To possess good interpersonal skills and be a facilitator;
  • To be rigorous and organised;
  • To know how to make decisions;
  • To be proactive;
  • To possess listening skills;
  • To be proficient in English.

This is a 3-year contract (renewable once).

Applicants with lecturing experience will be expected to supply evidence of recent or under review publications in peer reviewed journals. Priority will be given to applicants with international experience.

Applicants should possess good interpersonal skills and be high level professionals.
The expected priority status would be that of an Associate or a Professor.
