Job Description

The Strategy Area at INSEAD is seeking a full-time Research Associate at the Fontainebleau campus. The candidate should be a recent university or master’s graduate and skilled in data analytics and with past experience on research projects. We are especially interested in the candidates that have a strong research-based interest in business strategy and broader management/social sciences.

The work environment is highly vibrant and intellectually engaging. The candidate will work closely with world-class scholars at INSEAD Strategy Area in the field of strategy and management. The candidate will also have an opportunity to interact with the pre-doc candidates/RAs from other areas and attend a number of workshops/seminars (on audit basis). Candidates who intend to apply to leading PhD programs in the future will find this experience especially fruitful and rewarding. Our recent pre-doc researchers have been admitted to PhDs at Kellogg School of Management, INSEAD, Toulouse School of Economics, London School of Economics, Stockholm School of Economics, among others.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Research Associate will work with and assist tenure-track professors in the Strategy Area to successfully initiate and conduct research projects. Specifically, the work tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

·         Collect, clean, and process high-quality data using web-scraping and other tools, from databases online and offline.

·         Maintain databases; extract and present summary statistics on short notice.

·         Create and run regressions using large quantities of data.

·         Potentially (if required) devise simulations and test economic models applying machine learning techniques.

·         Assist, as required, in secondary and qualitative data collection (e.g. participating in research interviews)

·         Assist with select literature review (as needed) and research presentation material preparation (e.g. creating professional graphs and diagrams).

·         Regularly update and communicate with professors about ongoing projects; brainstorm about new methods and new projects.

We offer a full-time position is for one year, with a possibility of renewal after evaluation at the end of the year.
REQUIREMENTS 

·         Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, science, engineering, management, or economics.

·         Knowledge in data analytics and (ideally) machine learning tools.

·         Authorization to work in France.

·         Excellent academic record and prior research experience.

·         Fluency in oral and written English. The knowledge of additional language is a plus.

·         Excellent organizational and communication skills.

·         Enthusiasm for research required.

·         Interest in the social sciences and topics in business strategy, e.g. organizational learning, network structures, platform competition.
